On September 15 2017 the AFP Civil-Military Operations School opened the Strategic CMO NCO Course Class 17-17 with a total of forty nine Non-Commissioned Officers from the different units of the AFP, and from the Philippine National Police. The said course is designed to equip the current and prospective CMO assistant planners and operators with necessary knowledge, skills and attitude to effectively assists inplanning, developing and implementing strategic CMO activities.
Now on their third month, the students are in the immersion phase of the course. This is an avenue for them to apply all the theories learned in the classroom.
The students are divided into four groups. Three of the four groups will spend at least one week in each of the following groups of the Civil Relations Service AFP, namely: the Information Development Group (IDG) , Media and Civil Affairs Group (MCAG) and 7th Civil Relations Group (7th CRG), all located at Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo Quezon, City. These offices specialize in the best CMO practices and the students’ immersion in said offices will help enhance and develop their individual talents and skills in CMO.
One group is composed of ten students who have been selected by the AFPCMOS to maximize their potential and hone their skill in effective public speaking and radio broadcasting as they spend the entire duration of the immersion phase at the DWDD Katropa Radio ng MCAG.
After this immersion phase and upon finishing the SCMONCOC, the students are expected to become more effective and efficient WARRIOR DIPLOMATS.
