Senator Ramon Magsaysay Backs Renaming of the AFP CMO School

“I am allowing you to name the AFPCMO School after my father, and I will also tell my sister,” said Senator Ramon B. Magsaysay, Jr., son of late President Magsaysay after whom the Armed Forces of the Philippines Civil-Military Operations School (AFPCMOS), in his speech during the program in connection with the institution’s 9th anniversary where he was the guest of honor and speaker.

Senator Magsaysay was referring to the move of the AFPCMOS to rename the school to Ramon Magsaysay Strategic CMO School and Centre or RMSCSC (arm-isk), an initiative of the present Commandant, MAJOR EDGARDO V. TALAROC, JR. that is being supported by the Commander of the AFPCMOS mother unit, the Civil Relations Service, AFP, BGEN JOSELITO E KAKILALA.

The Senator also encouraged the school to continue to embark on project for improvement. He expressed his support in the plan of the school to collaborate with a college or university and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to come up with a training package that would enable the soldiers to obtain a college degree at the same time that they finish a course at the AFPCMOS.

When MAJ TALAROC was asked why he opted to rename the institution after late President Magsaysay, he emphasized that among the reasons is that the late President Ramon Magsaysay was known as the “Father of CMO” because he won the hearts and minds of the people and made the Hukbalahaps surrender without bloodshed. – (Anabel T.
