The Armed Forces of the Philippines Civil Military Operations School (AFPCMOS) was the venue for launching of the “Race to One Million Seedlings” (R1MS) campaign in line with the Government’s National Greening Project of 2011 that seeks to plan 1.5 million hectares of public lands nationwide in order to mitigate the effect of climate change.
AFP Civil Relations Service Commander BGEN JOSELITO E KAKILALA AFP was the main officer who welcomed the partners in the campaign as well as the guest of honor and speaker of the event, Vice Chief of Staff, LTGEN GLORIOSO V MIRANDA AFP who represented the Chief of Staff. RESURRECCION (GSC) PA, acting Chief of Staff of the Command; LTC MARLOWE E PATRIA (INF) PA, Group Commander 7CRG, which is the lead unit of the event. Other partners present were Ms. Vilma Dimaculangan, Regional Executive Director of the Department of Agriculture; Ms. Lourdes Wagan, DENR Regional Director and Ms. Susan Asan, the Managing Director of the ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation, Inc.
The activity was also graced by some Miss Earth beauties such as Miss Philippines Earth 2015, Ms. Angelia Ong and her sister Miss Earth-Air.
R1MS aims to plant 1 Million Trees within the National Capital Region alone in one year and enhance environmental protection awareness among the communities. This serves as a catalyst to sustain the national campaign for environment protection and conservation. (Anabel Lasaten)
