The 5th Deputy Chief of Staff for Civil-Military Operations, MGEN JOSE P MAGNO JR AFP (RET) was Guest of Honor and Speaker during the closing ceremony of the Community-Based Approaches in Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism Course Class 02-18 on November 29, 2018 at Bulwagang Reyes, Civil Relations Service Armed Forces of the Philippines, Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo.
MGEN MAGNO stressed the significance of the course in relevance to addressing the world wide threat of violent extremism and terrorism. He stated that war does not kill the enemy’s ideology; instead what will put an end to this is a better ideology.
This course is part of the contribution of the AFP Civil-Military Operations School CRSAFP to the realization of the AFP PCVE Program. Conducting the second cycle of the course, the school produced 35 graduates from the different Philippine Security Forces comprised of 11 AFP officers, 18 PNP officers, and 6 BJMP officers who were equipped with the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes to effectively plan, evaluate and implement PCVE programs in their respective areas of responsibility.
Among the graduates, CPT ANDRESITO C JAEL (INF) PA, ranked number one (1), followed by PSUPT RUDY L ELANDAG PNP, ranked number two (2), and MAJ DELFIN EDMON E ELONA PAF, ranked number three (3).
Other guests present during the ceremony were LTGEN EDUARDO R ERMITA AFP (RET), MGEN EMILIANO MITCH TEMPLO AFP (RET), and MGEN SILVINO ALCABASA JR AFP.
The next class of the Community-Based Approaches in Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism Course will open next year.
