On 06 March 2020, thirty-two (32) personnel from the AFP and PNP officially begin another chapter in their respective journeys of learning as they take the Strategic Civil-Military Operations Non-Commissioned Officers Course (SCMONCOC) at the AFP CMO School. This was marked by the Opening Ceremony of the SCMONCOC Class 22-20 held at Bulwagang Reyes, Civil Relations Service, Armed Forces of the Philippines (CRSAFP), Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
The Keynote Speaker, the Commander, CRSAFP, Major General Ernesto C Torres Jr AFP welcomed the new students and told them to take the training seriously as he highlighted the significance of CMO to the nation’s peace and development. Citing how the previous class, SCMONCOC Class 21-19, made history with the number of awards given to the students in recognition of the academic excellence they have demonstrated, Major General Torres challenged this new class to strive for such excellence and think strategically. He further expressed his gratitude to the AFP CMO School for producing graduates who contribute to the AFP and to the Security Sector, and thus contribute to the high trust rating of the Filipinos to the AFP, mentioning the Social Weather Station (SWS) Survey of March 2020. He then left a quote that “In life, our future is the product of the choices we make”, setting the right goals and the commitment to learn, contribute effort and conquer new challenges.
The Strategic Civil-Military Operations Non-Commissioned Officers Course by the AFP CMO School is designed to equip students with the competencies to effectively assist in planning, developing and implementing strategic CMO activities. Along with other courses its offers, the AFP CMO School continually strives to live by its motto: “Vision, Dynamism and Excellence” and to remain true to its slogan: “Our CMO Education, Your Lifetime Foundation.”
