PREVENTING AND COUNTERING VIOLENT EXTREMISM COURSE OPENS

The Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE) Course Class 01-18 officially opened on July 2, 2018 at Bulwagang Reyes, CRSAFP.

The first batch of students of the PCVE Course, officers from the Major Services of the AFP, as well as from other Philippine Security Forces, including the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), will undergo the six-week course which focuses on equipping them with the necessary knowledge, skills and attitude to effectively plan, implement and evaluate PCVE programs in support to the attainment of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, objectives in preventing and countering violent extremism.

The Guest of Honor and Speaker, The Deputy Chief of Staff for CMO, J7 AFP MGEN RENE GLEN O PAJE AFP, who played a key role in the fight against the Islamic State-linked Maute terrorists in Marawi City, expressed his appreciation for this course, as it is offered a time when the need for PCVE is very much felt. MGEN PAJE quotes the saying “an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure” and cites that education on PCVE is one way of contributing to such prevention of the global threat of terrorism and violence.
