CRSAFP Conducts Lecture-Seminar on Extremism and Radicalization

            Civil Relations Service, Armed Forces of the Philippines successfully conducted a Lecture-Seminar on Extremism and Radicalization to appraise AFP personnel on the trends and recognize the realities in conflict resolution through an invited resource speaker Amr Abdalla Ph, D. a Senior Advisor on Policy Analysis and Research Institute of Peace and Security Studies of Addis Ababa University on 19 July 2016 at the CRSAFP Multi-Purpose Hall, Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.

            In his lecture, Dr. Abdalla revealed the myths and intricacies of radicalization according to his experience as a public prosecutor in Africa and his vast researches about conflict management in different countries around the world. He reiterated that “Conflict cannot be solved by using excessive violence or force but by winning the hearts and minds of the extremists and radicals.”

            On the other hand, BGEN RHODERICK M PARAYNO AFP, Commander of Civil Relations expressed his gratitude to Dr. Abdalla for sharing his knowledge and expertise on extremism and radicalization. He also acknowledged the participants in joining the activity which is surely beneficial to AFP in taking heads on peace advocacy projects and programs.

            The activity was facilitated by the AFP Civil-Military Operations School, CRSAFP which was attended by more than a hundred of participants coming from the different units of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) who supports government’s peace advocacies.
