AFPCMOS Opens Second Social Media Course

DSC_0063The Armed Forces of the Philippines Civil Military Operations School (AFPCMOS) has just opened the second Social Media Management and Product Development Course (SMMPDC) Class 02-15 where 20 students from the AFP, PNP and other government agencies have enrolled.

COL VICENTE GREGORIO BENITO TOMAS (CAV) GSC PA, the Deputy Commander of the Joint Task Force National Capital Region, AFP, who was the guest speaker during the occasion, enjoined the students to take advantage of the valuable interactive learning methodology being offered by the AFPCMOS and pass on the knowledge to others in their work and personal circles. He added that the country’s hosting of the APEC on the third week of November is a big event that provides an opportunity to let the world know about the accurate facts and exact happenings in the said gathering of head of states.  He also reiterated how the social media help him in sharing his life experiences and advocacies. He then reminded the students to be responsible practitioners in that they should always “think before you click,” citing a quote about being able to recover from the slip of a foot, but sometimes not from a slip of the tongue, which can have permanent effect or damage.

On the other hand, the Commandant of the AFPCMOS, MAJOR EDGARDO V TALAROC JR, during his welcome remarks, encouraged the students who will go through the one month social media and product development training to enjoy their exploration and journey to being proficient “netizens” and practitioners. He also provided the students with a glimpse of the learning they will go through in the next four weeks.

MAJ TALAROC emphasized that as a strategic CMO school, they will subject the social media course to regular scrutiny in order to keep it suited to the demands of time, as it is an innovation to continue being proactive in the internet of things and a contribution to the AFP’s quest of being a world-class organization.
