The Armed Forces of the Philippines Civil Military Operations School (AFPCMOS), including the whole class of the Joint Strategic CMO Non-Commissioned Officers Course Class 13-15, participated in the Liter of Light or Isang Litrong Liwanag activity organized by Mr. Illac Diaz of MyShelter Foundation and held at the Quezon City Memorial Circle on Friday, April 24, 2015.
The project brings the eco-friendly bottle light to communities living without electricity. The AFPCMOS contingent was headed by the School Commandant, MAJOR EDGARDO V. TALAROC, JR. and Media and Civil Affairs Group (MCAG) Commander, MAJOR MICHAEL C. AQUINO, while the Master of Ceremony during the event was the AFPCMOS School Director, CAPTAIN DARWIN C. LAGUARDIA. The event was also graced by Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte.
This worthy endeavor coincides with the celebration of Earth Day last April 22, 2015 and the United Nations’ declaration of 2015 as Earth Year. It is also significant in the humanitarian and disaster response (HADR) advocacy of the AFP. The Liter of Light is a purely Filipino innovation that offers a promise of cheap electricity which has already gained world-wide attention. (Anabel T. Lasaten)
