Unity in Diversity: The Essence of Bayanihan

The Armed Forces of the Philippines Civil Military Operations School (AFPCMOS) new Commandant, MAJOR EDGARDO V TALAROC JR., in his remarks during the joint opening of the Strategic CMO Officers Correspondence Course (CMOOCC) Class 08-15 and AFP CMO Joint NCO Course (CMONCO) Class 13-15 last Thursday, February 26, 2015, shared an advocacy that he believes would create harmony and peace, and would consequently result in accomplishing whatever endeavour an individual or group would undertake.

“Unity in Diversity” is a principle that MAJOR TALAROC said, is full of meaning and contains a lot of possibilities when practiced in both personal and professional dealings. But he added that what makes “Unity in Diversity” more significant, is its being the essence of the Internal Peace and Security Plan or IPSP, which refers to the AFP’s strategic initiative in addressing conflicts, where they engage in collaborations with agencies, both government and private, as well as other non-government organizations in order to achieve lasting peace and development for our country.

“In our quest to achieve the aspirations of the IPSP, it is greatly important that we arrive at a single focus, compromise and work together on common goals, despite having different ideas or even beliefs, so we can move effectively on the road towards harmony and growth,” MAJOR TALAROC accentuated

MAJOR TALAROC assured the students of the newly opened courses that the principle of “Unity in Diversity” will help them in understanding, embracing and advocating the significance, as well as relevance of strategic CMO in the various organizations and industries where they belong. The AFPCMOS currently has more than 100 new students who are future warrior-diplomats of the AFP. – Anabel T. Lasaten
